 s . We dedicate significant time and resources to strengthening afterschoo
 l and summer learning ("third space") programs and professionals\, includi
 ng through our Annual Conference. Each year\, 19\,000+ Vermont youth parti
 cipate in afterschool and summer learning programs that offer a safe place
  for them to connect\, learn new things\, express themselves\, access heal
 thy food\, and build relationships with caring adults. And if that’s not
  enough\, decades of research show that these programs spark an interest i
 n learning so students attend school more often\, get better grades\, and 
 improve their behavior in class. It's why we’re so invested in youth wor
 kers and why we offer our Annual Conference. This day of learning and netw
 orking is invaluable to youth workers\, helping them to continue to provid
 e high-quality afterschool programs where Vermont youth will be active\, e
 ngaged\, connected\, and heard. Vermont Afterschool's 17th annual conferen
 ce will be on October 23 at Hotel Champlain in Burlington.
